the prodigal returns....

This week my rotten, naughty, super cute dachshund Maddison went missing. I put her in our side yard and she dug a small hole to her freedom. She is absolutely terrified of thunder and rain, and I put her out right before a huge storm hit, hoping she would do her business before the rain came. Not ten minutes later when I checked on her, she was no where to be found.
I searched the rest of the afternoon, feeling pretty calm about the situation, thinking she may have been under the house hiding from the storm. But once it got dark, I got very sad, wondering if she had been found, gotton hit by a car, etc. I decided to post on facebook she was missing, hoping anyone who lived close to us would keep an eye out for her. Within minutes, a friend posted a Craigs List link from their lost and found section, of a dachshund being found very close to my house, so I just knew it had to be her. I emailed the woman a description of her and was able to sleep that night knowing she was more than likely found, and was not still roaming around the streets.
The next morning at 7:30 am, I got a phone call from my dentist's office. I thought I had missed an appointment and answered to find out the same Cindy from my dentist's office was the same Cindy who had my Maddison! Her and her husband own doxies as well, and saw my girl running through traffic on Cassat Avenue (a very busy, 4-laned street if you don't know what it is), and her husband kindly chased her on Cassat and took her home with them.
So we were reunited, the rotten little dog is fine and I am thankful she is home safely. Now onto repairing the fence so she doesn't escape again!!

book of the week...

review:
"In this heartwarming children's tale, Eli the woodcarver helps Punchinello understand how special he is, no matter what other Wemmicks may think. It's a vital message for children everywhere: that God cherishes them just as they are."

latest project...

I have waaaayyy too many projects, crafts, "things", I have been getting myself into. One thing I love to do though, is decorate my house. It's fun and I always have a new idea of something to do. Being that we are now in our new house, I have soooo many ideas! I have been trying to knock them out one a week or so but unfortunutely, budget restrictions don't always allow me to do what I really want. So I love when I come across an idea that doesn't cost much, but makes a big change to a room.(I think I got this idea from another blog) This mirror was a hand-me-down and wasn't really my style at all. I debated on whether to keep it or pass it on to my sister Erika (sorry, you missed out on this one!). My living room walls are grey, and I have several black and white frames and lamps with black/white shades. So, one can of spray paint from Lowes at $3.44, and I just got a brand new mirror for my living room that I LOVE!!! It's definitely more my style now!

before...gold and gaudy
after...black and shiny!

I will try to continue to post my latest house projects which will always be budget friendly ways to change up your home. Hopefully it will inspire you to do some new projects to your house, and if you do, remember to share!

cake...

I finally finished my cake! It was so much fun and I can't wait to make another one soon!

book of the week...

So Noah actually threw down his Pirate book tonight for this one...

"George has more adventures than James Bond. Only three inches tall, he can ski down mountains of dishes, swim with goldfish, and take rides in his new toy airplane. But taking care of his giant baby brother and brushing his teeth can be real challenges for the mouse-sized George."

It's so cute how Noah tries to say George also!

First Cake Decorating Class

My first cake decorating class in a nut shell.
Super fun, super messy and I am just super clumsy.

buttercream icing that took me about 45 minutes just to mix.
my cake.
doesn't that look like a funny face??
the icing...(supposed to be light blue, actually was sort of gray.)
the iced cake prior to smoothing...
what was supposed to be red icing, it's actually salmon...
my two-lined rainbow because I was so slow!!
and then...
Cake on the floor. Major bummer.
Here's to more decorating next week and no cake on the floor.

With our beautiful baby girl on the way, several people have brought it to my attention that I will be forced to change the name of my blog. (I'm defnitely not complaining!) Well, it took me long enough to come up with my current name so I will be gladly accepting new blog name suggestions! So come on creative minds!

book of the week...

Although Noah seriously freaks if we don't read  "Pie-Pie" every single night, this has been another book he really likes. He enjoys pointing out the bird on every page!

Review:
"While a mother bird is away from her nest, the egg in it hatches. The baby bird's first words are, 'Where is my mother?' He jumps out of the nest, tumbles to the ground and begins looking for his mother."
